Discontinued Product Announcement

Subject: LVR12-22 & HLV 120V to 12V Step-down transformer

Dear Valued Distributor,

RSL has decided to discontinue our LVR12-22 Regulator based on the current National Electrical Code which calls for a maximum of 15-volts for low voltage garden lighting. We do not want to encourage the use of voltage taps exceeding the NEC Code.

Our original LVR12-18 Volt Regulator will continue to be offered as the only solution that guarantees no more that 12-volts at every lamp and the option of designing with a single 15-volt tap for every circuit run. Even though the LVR12-18 Regulator is rated up to 18-volts we do not support exceeding the 15-volts recommended in the National Electric Code. The 18-volt rating is designed to eliminate voltage fluctuation & surge issues.

If the National Electric Code increases the 15-volt limit we will re-visit this decision. We feel that exceeding the 15-volt limit could lead to potential liability issues for all parties involved.

We are also going to discontinue our HLV 120V to 12V Step-down transformer. The failure rate for this transformer has been too high due to J-Box applications which do not allow for heat dissipation. This causes the transformer to fail due to high heat. These transformers use electronic components that will fail early under high heat conditions. We are in the process of finding a product that is designed for this application.
